Instructor of Sociology
Jefferson Community College is conducting a search for a full-time, tenure-track sociology instructor to begin in August 2019. Responsibilities include teaching five classes per semester (fall and spring); academic advising; and participation in College service such as College committees, curriculum development, and community outreach. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to teaching excellence, and an ability to work with a diverse student population.
Required: Master’s degree in sociology or closely related field with some research experience (master’s thesis and/or dissertation); undergraduate and graduate coursework in sociology; teaching experience; and strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in sociology; community college teaching experience; experience teaching introductory sociology and ability to teach a variety of sociology electives; online or other distance learning experience; advising experience; interest and/or experience in involving students in research.
